Crafting-Hair Clips for the "Girl"

Okay, so I'm not much of a crafter--mainly because I have a hard time finishing projects. I tend to start something and get bored with it because it takes me to long to finish, and so I don't finish it. Anyhow, the other day I was at Michaels and they were having a 2 for 1 sale on ribbon. Since I already had the hair clips at home (which I bought at Sally Beauty Supply--btw, don't buy hair clips at a craft store--they're severely over priced. I think I got 100 for $6.00 at Sally's), and knew I had full confidence in myself to use a glue gun, I couldn't resist. I got the cutest ribbon and found some cute plastic embellishments to glue on top. I thought they turned pretty good. So hooray for me since I finished something! And, yes, I know there's glue sticking out all over. I should mention that the first day she wore the lady bug clips, she yanked the lady bug right off. So, I had to improvise. I used some adhesive velcro dots (the soft side only) and stuck that to the back of the plastic bug. Then, I glued the soft velcro side to the ribbon. I think the added texture helped give it added strength. Maybe someone out there knows a better way --maybe next time I'll use super glue. Anyhow, she hasn't pulled any bugs off yet. It seems to be working--and the cool thing is you can't tell there's velcro under there because I only used the soft side instead of the soft and rough together! The cost to make all three clips--$1.51 (the the 6 plastic bugs cost $1.00, the 6 clips were $0.36, and and the amount of ribbon I used was roughly $0.15. And yes, I have a ton of ribbon left (this will be fun to have for gifts and cards). I did make another clip with a cute bow on it as well. I'll have to post it later.
