Halloween 2012

Halloween was fun this year. We let the boys watch Star Wars for the first time this summer so they were determined to be Jedi Knights for quite some time. So here's the pics! Enjoy!

Discipline

So, the other day, my babysitters (a set of sisters) came to my house to interview me about being a parent for a report one of them was doing for school. In the conversation I asked them how their parents disciplined them. They said they had to write scriptures down 10x's whenever they did something wrong. So, this post is to start collecting the scriptures my kids will use as I implement this new program. My kids are little, so for now, we'll just say the scripture out loud together 3x's. When they fight and quarrel, we'll do Mosiah 4:14 (from The Book of Mormon):
"And ye will not suffer your children that they go hungry, or naked; neither will ye suffer that they transgress the laws of God, and fight and quarrel one with another, and serve the devil, who is the master of sin, or who is the evil spirit which hath been spoken of by our fathers, he being an enemy to all righteousness."

Kisses Goodbye

I always make my kids give me a hug and kiss before they exit the van to go to school. The other day, while dropping Maxson off, I went though the usual routine and tapped my cheek with my finger indicating to Maxson that he needed to give me a hug and kiss before he left the van. He finagled his way up to the driver seat and kissed me on the cheek. Then he stepped back and questioned, "Do I have to give you hugs and kisses for the rest of my life??" Of course I replied, "Yes!" Then he jumped out of the van and before hastily shutting the door, piped out, "Well, not when I'm on my mission!" Then he slammed the door mid laughter and ran in a tipped-toe skip to his classroom door bursting with glee that he had outwitted his mom. I love that kid. And you're right Maxson, you won't have to give me hugs and kisses when you're on your mission...but I better get a really big hug when you get back.

William's Birthday

William was a super champ and let his Mom off the hook for a "friend" party so Isaac would be shielded from friend germs. So we took it easy and had a family party at home. William is into Egyptian stuff...so we made a pyramid and hieroglyphic cake...he loved it. We gave him a new set of scriptures and some pajama bottoms. He was ecstatic.

Top favorite things about William:
1. He adores his baby brother, Isaac. Seriously. I've never seen any body pitch their voice so high when talking to a baby and give a baby so many kisses.
2. He's a self-starter. He's getting his homework done all on his own as of late without me badgering him.
3. He's an amazing artist.
4. He's hilarious. He's always making us laugh. He's so animated.
5. I love it when he's talking to someone he's trying to impress...he'll lower his voice to sound more mature. I don't think he realizes he even does it.

Christmas

We had church at 11:00 am..so we made the kids get ready first and then open their presents and then we headed off the church. Thus...the nice clothes instead of bedhead and jammie pictures.

William got his first telescope for Christmas this year.
Here's a picture of the boys star gazing with Dad in the back yard.

Family came to town
(doesn't Gwen's cousin look like she should be her twin sister?)

One more thing...my favorite gift for Christmas this year? A pot and pan set from my one and only...thanks, hot stuff!

The Girl

Had to post some cute pics of the girl...

Isaac is here!

Yeah, so we had a baby....boy!!! In November. I know...I'm totally behind....but that's the norm around here these days. The delivery went great and I spent Thanksgiving day in the hospital. It'll probably be the only Thanksgiving in my life where I will be able to spend the entire day in bed!

Earlier that day, William won 1st place in the turkey trot at school...and the prize? A turkey!
Family picture "before" the little guy:

Here's the family photo of after
(without me...I wasn't thinking...
I should have had the nurse come in and take the picture)
Here's the little guy with Grandpa and Grandpa Daley
1 month old
2 months old

I can't believe how fast he's growing...and yes, he is a chunky monkey! He weighed 15 lbs 5 oz at his 2 month check up. He weighs 3 and 1/2 more pounds than his 4 month old neighbor down the street :-)!
